The Lost Photographs of Osbert Sumner

In 2012, the Irvington Historical received a donation of glass negatives. The artifacts had been stored under a staircase in a basement on Ritter Avenue. There were no names, no dates, no context…just a cache of remarkable images waiting to be identified. With some detective work, the Society’s director, Steve Barnett, traced the photographs back to the home’s original owner, a man named Osbert Sumner. After years of research and careful digitization, the Irvington Historical Society is proud to present The Lost Photographs of Osbert Sumner, on view from May 31st through November 16th.
